MEET AVEDIS.

CHINESE MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTOR SINCE 1999.

BIO & EARLY LIFE

Avedis Seropian was Born in 1982 in Lebanon. His first contact with martial arts was at the age of 14, he has been teaching Chinese martial arts (Tai Chi, Qi Gong, and Kung Fu: both traditional Kung Fu and modern Wushu) since 1999.

Avedis chose Chinese martial arts among many others, such as Karate or Judo, that were popular in his youth, because he found out that none of them has the fluidity, the wealth of styles, and the free character of Wushu, where the practitioner is encouraged to find their own “path”, and the ability to freely express themselves according to their body type and temperament. Chinese martial arts is truly unique in that way. He is one of the first creators of optional difficulty movements, such as the modified Shaolin Style Squat adapted to Tai Chi, which later became part of the modern Wushu competition routines as innovative optional movements. Nowadays, athletes can apply to such tournaments with their own variation of innovative list of movements such as during world championships.

ATHLETIC ACHIEVEMENTS & CAREER

Avedis has participated in 8 world wushu championships, 5 of them as an athlete and 3 of them as an International Wushu Judge. He has the 6th degree black belt from the Chinese Traditional Wushu Association in Chen style Tai Chi, and holds numerous regional, West Asia, and international titles in Tai Chi, both traditional and modern.

In the year 2011, he participated in the 5th Wudang International Tai Chi tournament, held in the birthplace of Taoism, and scored a gold medal in each of the three events that he presented. but more importantly, he was the highest-scoring athlete of the entire tournament- Chinese and foreigners combined- among almost 1200 participants from all around the globe.

The year 2013 was the second time Avedis ranked number 1 in both his events Chen style barehand Tai Chi and Chen style Sword, among more than 3000 participants, and was applauded as the best of the best this time in the birthplace of Chen Style Tai Chi, in Chen Jia Gou, Henan, China.

In the year 2019, he participated in the new format of the competition of Tai Chi, where the winners of each category are rewarded the Gold Medal, and then are asked to partake in the best of the best; that they call “Tai Chi Elite”, and one winner will be announced in each of the male and female categories. Avedis opted for Chen style Tai Chi, his expertise, and once again Avedis received the Gold Medal for the 3rd time, in front of the 4 living Grandmasters of Tai Chi, such as Grandmasters Chen Ziao Wang, Chen Zheng Lei, and a stadium full of thousands of Tai Chi fans.

Immediately after that, after lots of examinations in both theory and performance, plus pushing hand combat, and his self-composed performances of Tai Chi routines, Avedis was awarded the title of “Golden tiger” in Chen style Tai Chi, the equivalent of 6th-degree Black Belt, Master of internal styles.

PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVES

Avedis emphasizes that the practice of Wushu, whether in its external or internal styles, is a lifestyle, that is ultimately bound to lead to ‘Kung Fu,’ in other words: constant refinement of skills, and work on the self in the pursuit of perfection.

His goal is to pass his knowledge gathered from all around the world through harmonious and innovative teaching, resulting from his two decades of research into the Eastern alchemical practices of Taoism merged with his studies of Western psychotherapy. His teachings are practiced by all generations of athletes, instructors, and people interested in working on themselves to improve their quality of life. He also prepares young athletes for championships and travels to give seminars, workshops, and courses that can be passed in English, French, Arabic, Armenian, and Mandarin.
