What is the difference between Wushu & Kung Fu?

Wushu, literally translated as “military art” or martial arts is the accurate word for all the styles of Chinese martial arts. The term Kungfu, actually means perfection of skills after long cultivation. It has come to be synonymous with the meaning of martial arts because of Bruce Lee’s movies, where the term was catchier and easier to be spelled by the westerners. However, the word Kungfu continues to be used all across the globe to refer to the Chinese martial arts, specifically referring to the more traditional martial arts such as Shaolin Kungfu, while the term wushu is more adopted by the professionals around the world especially while referring to the context of the modern or standardized forms of practice that are embraced in world Wushu championships.
